Until the 89th minute of that match, it seemed that City would take that title lead into the last matchday as well before a three-minute brace from Blackstenius turned the game around and gave the Gunners a 2-1 win. On the larger scheme, it gave Chelsea the lead in the league on goal difference. On the last matchday, Chelsea's 6-0 win against Manchester United meant City faltered to Chelsea due to goal difference.

Chelsea managed to give Emma Hayes the perfect farewell gift with the 6-0 win over Man Utd and also their fifth-straight WSL title win. Hayes will now depart the club after 12 years with the Blues as she joins the USWNT as their head coach.
