Conor Gallagher's transfer saga seems to be drawing to a close as Chelsea have given him the green light to complete the move to Atletico Madrid.

Over the last month, Atletico Madrid have appeared the likeliest destination for Gallagher. Last week, the England international travelled to Madrid to complete his medical and sign the paperwork with Atletico. However, the deal collapsed due to the failure of a different transfer between the two sides that would have seen Samu Omorodion join Chelsea, as such, Gallagher returned to London.

Chelsea and Atletico Madrid, however, kept looking for ways to revive the deal and have done so using Joao Felix. The disgruntled Portuguese forward is set to join the Blues from Los Rojiblancos and as such, Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Gallagher's deal will also soon be tied up by Diego Simeone's side in the next few days.

WHAT NEXT FOR GALLAGHER?
The former West Brom star was part of Gareth Southgate's Euro 2024 squad over the summer and returned late to Chelsea's pre-season. He was then forced to train alone, therefore, Atletico will likely take his incorporation in the side slowly.
